To help sustain the high yields of farmers, fisher folks and other agricultural stakeholders, Sec. Arthur Yap of Department of Agriculture (DA) called on Filipino researchers and scientists to maintain partnership with the government.
In line with DA’s mission of attaining food sufficiency and security for the country, Yap told participants on his speech during the 4th National Biotechnology Week that his agency will provide funding from its regular budget for researchers and studies conducted for the development of biotechnology.
He also called for safe ways to develop the technology to help expand harvest and increase yield and income of Filipino farmers nationwide. [via PIA]
