To benefit the local furniture industry, FPRDI (Forest products Research and Development Institute) of the DOST (Department of Science and Technology) designed a low cost digital wood moisture meter. This digital moisture meter is an improved version of the analog resistance that can measure wood moisture content (MC) within 6-30%. MC is displayed automatically and can be read without adjusting any selector switches. |

Muscovado or raw cane sugar has been identified as one of the priority export products for development under the Philippine Export Development Plan. |

This is to reinvigorate a body of communicators for the dissemination and promotion of food and nutrition information in the province. |

DOST (Department of Science and Technology), with the success of Philippine made ripe mango products in the global market, is now conducting project which aims to produce world class products from green mango. Katrina Batang, science research specialist II of Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development (PCIERD) said that the council has an ongoing research on green mango as an all natural juice drink which is leaded by its sister agency, Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI). |

In coordination with the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), DOST (Department of Science and Technology) is conducting trainings on seaweed processing in Zamboanga Peninsula. The said trainings are in line with DOST's Small Enterprise technology Upgrading Program otherwise known as SET-UP. DOST Regional Director Brenda Nazareth-Manzano said that the training was intended for the seaweed farmers, traders and processors of Zamboanga City and from the towns San Jose Dalman and Rizal in Zamboanga del Norte. |
