Earn More in Seaweed farming

In October 2009, seaweed farming started in Lanao del Norte, and it is becoming popular. Many market scenes are now paying attention to seaweed farming because it gives supplemental earnings to the local communities of the province.

 
The Green Charcoal from a Filipino Entomologist

Gonzalo Catan, a Seventy-year-old Filipino entomologist, is endorsing the use of unnecessary plant wastes as an efficient and green fuel source. Catan, the Executive Vice President of Mapecon Philippines Inc., stated that the green charcoal will resolve the garbage problem and energy crisis in the country, mainly in small and distant communities who are not reached by electricity. He developed the green charcoal after his many years of research in the field of entomology.

 
Honey Bee Farming

In Alabang we can see the skyscrapers, big malls and busy viable centers. In a backyard of a small house in a high village is a wood of trees and flowering plants, this is where the bees are camping and in this place Luke Macababbad lives. He is an urban farmer and a custodian of the colonies in a 50-square-meter backyard in Muntinlupa City subdivision.

Bees sip the nectar of the shrubs and bushes of the wild flowering plants, vines and trees.  January to May is the honey season, flowers bloom and honey flows. A 50 hives or colonies can make 30 to 50 kilograms of honey in 3 weeks. The 80% is being made into wine and the remaining is honey.

 
DTI's Bagwis Program

Central Luzon topped in the implementation of the Department of Trade and Industry's "Bagwis" program. The National Capital Region is in the first place having many Gold awards since 2006. The Bagwis program has a goal of recognizing establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible commerce. In 2010, the trade department had already given Gold "Bagwis" award to 119 establishments in the region.

 
Automatic Weather Stations

To boost the ability of the agency through the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to supervise local weather condition in a locality that will give more precise and consistent forecast and warnings, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under Secretary Mario G. Montejo is set to install 2 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).
